Alexandra and Álvaro’s Destination Wedding in Andalusia
Alexandra and Álvaro’s Destination Wedding was nothing short of a dream come true! Residing in Sweden, they decided to hire us as their wedding planners to organise their perfect destination wedding in Andalusia.
As many of you already know, at Weddings With Love, we specialise in organising Destination Weddings in Spain. For this special occasion, the couple had a clear vision: the Royal Hideaway Hotel La Bobadilla 5*, nestled in the stunning Sierra de Loja in Granada, was the perfect destination to say their “I do.” An idyllic location to host the elegant three-day Destination Wedding Alexandra and Álvaro had always envisioned.
Above all, the couple wanted their wedding experience in Andalusia to be unforgettable for their guests, who travelled from different countries to celebrate with them.
A Three-Day Destination Wedding: A Bilingual Ceremony and a Luxury Hotel
The wedding took place in May, on a sunny weekend that began with a rehearsal and a beautiful pre-wedding party ahead of the couple’s “Big Day.” For destination weddings, it is essential to organise a welcome reception for guests. A lunch or dinner at sunset provides the perfect opportunity for the couple to greet family and friends from around the globe and thank them for sharing what will be the most special days of their lives. The experience begins at that very moment! For the guests, it also feels like a mini-holiday, which is why the setting and venue play a key role.
Our couple knew from the very beginning that they wanted to celebrate a religious ceremony. They chose the stunning Church of Santiago Apóstol in Iznájar, a true gem of Andalusia and an incredible place to say “I do.”
Royal Hideaway Hotel La Bobadilla
To host their guests and create an unforgettable three-day wedding experience, the couple had a clear favourite: the Royal Hideaway Hotel La Bobadilla, one of Spain’s first hotels to be awarded the Michelin Key for excellence.
This remarkable hotel is tucked away in a secluded cortijo in the Sierra de Loja, Granada. Its architecture, inspired by traditional Andalusian villages, features cobblestone patios, fountains, and breathtaking views of olive groves and mountains. The perfect backdrop for a Destination Wedding in Andalusia!
A Magical Three-Day Destination Wedding
The entire weekend was magical, but as you can imagine, the highlight was Saturday’s emotional ceremony, where family and friends from around the world gathered to witness Alexandra and Álvaro exchange vows.
Every wedding ceremony is unique, but when Spanish and American traditions come together in a Catholic wedding, it leaves no one indifferent. Alexandra and Álvaro knew their ceremony had to be bilingual—a challenge in itself! Most of their English-speaking guests weren’t Catholic and were less familiar with the structure of the ceremony. To ensure everyone felt included, they incorporated a reading in English and provided ceremony booklets in both languages.
The Couple’s Show-Stopping Looks
What can we say about our couple? They couldn’t have looked more stunning. Truly breathtaking!
Alexandra’s Couture Bridal Look
Elegance and style combined perfectly in Alexandra’s choice of designer. She entrusted the renowned Phillipa Lepley to create her fabulous gown, a masterpiece of haute couture. Alexandra’s dress featured a classic silhouette crafted from ivory duchess satin, a fabric that captured the light beautifully, creating a subtle, refined glow that complemented her fair complexion. And the corset? Simply exquisite!
Her veil, also by Phillipa Lepley, was a central feature of her look. Made from double-layered silk tulle and adorned with hand-embroidered fern motifs, it echoed the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Alexandra stayed true to her minimalist and classic aesthetic with her accessories, opting for a pearl tiara by Jennifer Behr, purchased during a trip to New York. A subtle yet significant touch! She completed her look with pearl earrings, and over the weekend, she wore additional pearl jewellery from Tiffany—a special gift from her family. Walking into the church with her bridesmaids, she left us all speechless. She was radiant!
Álvaro’s Timeless Elegance
Álvaro opted for a fabulous and elegant tuxedo by the renowned Seville-based brand Derby 1951. A truly impeccable choice! Meanwhile, his mother embraced Spanish tradition, looking absolutely stunning in a mantilla as the mother of the groom.
Décor for an Experiential Destination Wedding
Alexandra and Álvaro’s wedding perfectly showcased how to combine tradition, luxury, and bespoke experiences to create the ultimate Destination Wedding in Spain.
As wedding planners, we adore destination weddings. They present the exciting challenge of blending cultures with dream destinations and experiences. For us, Alexandra and Álvaro’s wedding was a true gift, and everything turned out perfectly!
When designing their wedding décor, we focused on creating an elegant and sophisticated concept. We used a warm and soft colour palette, ambient lighting, personalised details, and, of course, dreamy floral arrangements. The floral choices harmonised beautifully with the natural surroundings of the Hotel La Bobadilla.
Jasmine: The Fragrance of Alexandra and Álvaro’s Wedding
One special element of this wedding was the jasmine flower and its delightful fragrance. Starting with Alexandra’s bouquet, the couple chose the renowned brand The Wedding Scent to infuse their venue and guest tables with the aroma of jasmine. Imagine how incredible the wedding smelled!
The fragrance, “Jasmine,” blended fresh notes of lilac with the sensuality of mimosa. Months later, the couple shared how meaningful this unique detail was, as the scent of the jasmine candles now transports them back to one of the most beautiful days of their lives.
The Wedding Scent is the pioneer and the only brand specialising in wedding scents.
Andalusian Music and Cuisine
The celebration was accompanied by a carefully selected live band, providing an unmatched musical experience. As for the menu, it was a culinary delight—a refined tasting menu inspired by local Andalusian gastronomy, prepared by the hotel’s talented chefs.
A Truly Magical Atmosphere
From start to finish, every detail helped create a magical atmosphere. The 150 guests were overjoyed and amazed by everything Alexandra and Álvaro had planned to make their Destination Wedding in Andalusia a memorable experience. A blend of cultures, a celebration of friendship, and, above all, LOVE. What more could you ask for?
